AIFF’s Search for New India Coach: Marquez, Habas, and Park Among Top Contenders
AIFF Initiates Interviews for National Team Coach

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has begun interviewing candidates for the national team coach position.
Acting general secretary M. Satyanarayan has requested further details from applicants, including their interest, salary expectations, availability, and other relevant information.
About a dozen coaches have been shortlisted from the 291 applicants, including ISL champions Manolo Marquez and Antonio Lopez Habas, along with Park Hang-seo, known for his success with Vietnam’s national team.
“A source told TOI that there is a strong preference for a coach familiar with Indian football”.Marquez and Habas have proven themselves in the ISL, but salary considerations and previous contractual obligations remain important factors.”
Habas holds the record for managing the most ISL games (110) and has won two ISL titles and one League Shield. Marquez guided Hyderabad FC to an ISL victory in 2022 and has been instrumental in nurturing Indian talent.
Following Igor Stimac’s departure after India’s FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, the AIFF is keen to appoint a coach capable of continuing the national team’s progress.
