“This Belongs To You”: Harshit Rana Celebrates India ODI Call-Up with His Father

Indian pacer Harshit Rana recently shared a touching moment on social media, celebrating his call-up to the India ODI team with his father. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Rana expressed his gratitude to his father, Pradeep, by saying, “This BELONGS to you…LOVE YOU DAD.” The photo captured Rana lifting his father, who was proudly wearing an Indian jersey.

Harshit Rana is among the younger players selected for India’s ODI tour of Sri Lanka, starting July 27. This tour marks India’s first international assignment under new head coach Gautam Gambhir, who was appointed earlier in July following Rahul Dravid’s departure after the ICC T20 World Cup victory.

Rana had a standout IPL season with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), a team mentored by Gambhir. He took 19 wickets at an average of 20.15, including key dismissals of players like Heinrich Klaasen, Virat Kohli, Faf Du Plessis, and KL Rahul. He finished as the fourth-highest wicket-taker of the season.

In addition to his T20I achievements, Rana has taken 28 wickets in 25 T20Is and has also shown his batting prowess in first-class cricket, with a century and a fifty to his name, averaging 49.00 in nine innings with a strike rate of 89.

India’s squad for the Sri Lanka tour features different captains for T20Is and ODIs. Suryakumar Yadav will lead the T20I team, while Rohit Sharma will captain the ODI side. The ODI squad includes experienced players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul, and resembles the team that reached the finals of the 2023 World Cup.
