Real Madrid Bids Farewell to Nacho Fernandez Ahead of His Move to Al-Qadsiah
Former Captain to Join Saudi Pro League
Real Madrid is set to host a farewell event for their former captain Nacho Fernandez, who is leaving the club to join Al-Qadsiah in the Saudi Pro League. The announcement was made on Real Madrid’s official website and social media accounts.
“Real Madrid CF announces that next Wednesday, July 24, at 1:00 p.m., an institutional event to pay tribute to and farewell our captain Nacho Fernandez will take place at Real Madrid City, with the presence of our president Florentino Perez,” the club stated.
A Loyal Servant to the Club
Nacho Fernandez joined Real Madrid’s academy, Castilla, in 2001 at the age of 10 and made his senior team debut in 2012. Over the past 12 years, he has played 364 matches for the club across all competitions, scoring 16 goals and providing 10 assists. His tenure at the club has been marked by significant successes, including four La Liga titles, six Champions League titles, five FIFA Club World Cups, four UEFA Super Cups, two Copa del Rey titles, and five Spanish Super Cups.
Decision to Leave
Despite multiple contract extension offers from Real Madrid, Nacho has decided to part ways with the club. Club President Florentino Perez and head coach Carlo Ancelotti attempted to persuade the 34-year-old to stay for another season but were unsuccessful. Ancelotti reportedly told Nacho.
