Suryakumar Yadav Breaks Silence On Hardik Pandya’s Role, Captaincy Change In T20Is

India’s new T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, has discussed his approach and the changes in leadership dynamics as he replaces Rohit Sharma. Addressing the media for the first time as the full-time captain, Surya emphasized that despite his new role, there will be no significant shift in the team’s approach. He reaffirmed that Hardik Pandya remains a crucial player and praised his contributions during the T20 World Cup.

“Hardik’s role has always been the same. He is a very important player for the team, and I hope he continues to perform as he did in the World Cup,” Surya said. He assured that the team’s aggressive style of play, established under Rohit, will persist. “The same train will go ahead; only the engine has changed and the bogies remain unchanged,” he added.

Suryakumar highlighted the influence of Rohit Sharma, noting his leadership qualities both on and off the field. He expressed admiration for Rohit’s ability to guide the team and planned to carry forward the lessons learned from him. “Rohit was more than just a captain; he was a leader who showed the way,” Surya explained.

He acknowledged the challenge of stepping into the role with several senior players retiring but expressed confidence in the new players’ readiness. “The game has evolved over the years, and so have I. I’m a changed man now, and I believe the new players will rise to the occasion,” Surya said.
