“Manu Bhaker Admits to Creating Fake Profile to Defend PV Sindhu; Star Shuttler Responds”

Shooter Manu Bhaker is making headlines at the Paris Olympics with her remarkable achievements. On July 28, she secured a historic bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol, becoming the first Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal. Just two days later, she won another bronze in the mixed team 10m air pistol event with partner Sarabjot Singh, making her the first athlete from independent India to win two medals in a single Olympic Games. Bhaker’s accomplishments have inspired many young athletes.

In a recent interview, Bhaker revealed an intriguing personal story. “I have always admired greats in Indian sports like PV Sindhu and Neeraj Chopra. There was a time when I made a fake profile to defend Sindhu. I got so triggered by some negative comments that I created a fake account to stand up for her,” Bhaker shared with Sportstar.

Sindhu responded warmly to Bhaker’s revelation on X: “Haha what a sweetheart!!! Welcome to the 2 Olympic medal club, Manu!! Way to go.”

Bhaker’s second medal came in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, where she and Sarabjot Singh defeated the Korean duo of Lee Wonoho and Oh Yeh Jin with a score of 16-10. This achievement not only cemented Bhaker’s place among India’s greatest athletes but also marked a significant turnaround from her disappointing Tokyo 2020 debut, where a malfunctioning pistol had left her in tears.

Looking ahead, Bhaker is still in contention for another medal in the 25m sports pistol event, with qualifications scheduled for August 2. For Sarabjot Singh, who had finished ninth in the men’s 10m air pistol final, this mixed team bronze was a redemption.

“I’m feeling good; the game was very tough and there was a lot of pressure. I’m very happy,” said Singh, who hails from a farming family in Ambala.
