“Ex-India Star Urges Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir to Move On From IPL Row”

In light of Gautam Gambhir’s new role as Team India’s head coach, speculation about his relationship with Virat Kohli has resurfaced. Their heated verbal altercation during the IPL 2023 season remains a topic of discussion, but both players have reportedly moved past the incident. Now, with Gambhir stepping into the coaching role and Kohli continuing as a key player, their dynamic is once again in the spotlight.

Venkatapathy Raju, a former Indian cricketer, weighed in on the matter. Speaking exclusively to NDTV, Raju urged everyone to put the past behind them. “Whatever happened in IPL, they should keep it behind their back. They are very senior cricketers and they are mature sportsmen,” Raju said. He emphasized the need to move on, despite the ongoing social media buzz about their past interactions.

Gautam Gambhir, who has been appointed as the new head coach following Rahul Dravid’s departure, has been a prominent figure in the IPL, where he has showcased his coaching prowess. Meanwhile, Kohli, who is set to play in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, will be working alongside Gambhir for the first time in this capacity.

Both Gambhir and Kohli are known for their intense on-field personas and have had their share of fiery moments in the past. Their rivalry during the IPL was well-documented, but recent encounters have shown a more cordial relationship, particularly during IPL 2024 when Gambhir served as a mentor for the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Gambhir has previously addressed the issue, stating that his relationship with Kohli is private and not for public consumption. “Good for the TRP, but my relationship is not public. What kind of a relationship I share with Virat Kohli… I think it’s between two mature individuals,” Gambhir remarked during a press conference.

As Team India prepares for their three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka starting July 27, followed by an ODI series, the focus will be on the team’s performance rather than past grievances. Raju’s call for moving past their IPL clash seems timely as both Gambhir and Kohli look to contribute to the team’s success.

For fans eager to follow the series, live coverage will be available on the Sony Sports Network, where Raju will also feature as part of the Telugu commentary panel.
