Amit Mishra on Virat Kohli: “A Huge Difference Between Cheeku and Kohli, the Captain”
Contrasting Personalities: Rohit vs. Kohli

Veteran spinner Amit Mishra recently highlighted the contrasting personalities of India’s current and former captains, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Mishra remarked that while Rohit has remained consistent in his demeanor, Kohli has undergone significant changes post-success.
Mishra’s Evolving Relationship with Kohli
Mishra shared his observations in an interview on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube show ‘Unplugged’. “I respect Virat as a cricketer, but our relationship has changed. When you gain fame and power, some people think others approach them with ulterior motives. This wasn’t the case with Rohit, who remains unchanged,” Mishra explained.
Fond Memories of ‘Cheeku’
Reflecting on his long-standing acquaintance with Kohli, Mishra said, “I have known Cheeku since he was 14, indulging in samosas and pizzas. There’s a huge difference between the Cheeku I knew and Virat Kohli, the captain.”
The Rohit Connection
Mishra praised Rohit Sharma for his unchanging nature. “Rohit has been the same from day one. Even after not being in the Indian team for years, whenever I meet Rohit during the IPL, he is always friendly and joking with me. This consistent behavior makes it easier to relate to him,” he added.
Addressing the Gambhir-Kohli Feud
Mishra also touched on the infamous clash between Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli during an IPL match. “Gautam extended the olive branch. He approached Kohli and inquired about his well-being. It was Gambhir who ended the feud, showing a big heart. Ideally, Kohli should have taken that step,” Mishra noted.
Through these candid reflections, Amit Mishra offers a glimpse into the personal dynamics within the Indian cricket team, highlighting the evolution of personalities amidst fame and success.
