
Abhinav Bindra, India’s Olympic gold medalist in shooting, has been awarded the Olympic Order by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). This prestigious award, given for his exceptional contributions to the Olympic Movement, will be officially presented to him on August 10 during the 142nd IOC Session in Paris.

In a letter dated July 20, the IOC Executive Board expressed their pleasure in awarding Bindra the Olympic Order, acknowledging his remarkable services to the Olympic Movement.
About the Olympic Order
The Olympic Order is the highest honor awarded by the IOC, recognizing individuals who have significantly contributed to the Olympic ideals, achieved notable merit in the sporting world, or provided outstanding services to the Olympic cause. Nominations are proposed by the Olympic Orders Council and decided by the Executive Board.

Bindra’s Historic Achievement
Abhinav Bindra made history by becoming India’s first individual Olympic gold medalist when he won the men’s 10m air rifle event at the 2008 Beijing Games. He has also been a significant figure in the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF), serving on its Athlete Committee from 2010 to 2020 and as its Chair from 2014. Since 2018, he has been a member of the IOC Athlete Commission.
