Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar congratulated Spanish tennis star Carlos Alcaraz on winning his second Wimbledon title on Sunday. Alcaraz secured his back-to-back Wimbledon victory by defeating Novak Djokovic 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) on Centre Court in London.

Tendulkar took to his official X account to commend Alcaraz’s remarkable win in straight sets against the formidable Djokovic. He also praised Djokovic for his grace and sportsmanship, both in victory and defeat.

“Abse tennis pe ek hi raj karega, woh hai Alcaraz. Winning the @Wimbledon finals in straight sets against a world-class opponent is no joke. With that kind of speed, power, placement, and energy, it looks like it’s going to be Advantage @carlosalcaraz in the years to come. Hats off to @DjokerNole for his grace and the way he has conducted himself in victory and in defeat. For me that is the hallmark of a true sportsperson,” Tendulkar wrote on X.

In the Wimbledon 2024 final, Alcaraz started strong, taking the first set 6-2 after securing a double break, wrapping it up in just 41 minutes. He maintained his momentum in the second set, also winning 6-2, while Djokovic struggled to find his form.

The Serbian attempted a comeback in the third set, starting off well and challenging Alcaraz. However, Alcaraz held his ground, forcing the match into a tiebreak, where he ultimately prevailed 7-4.

Alcaraz’s dominance from the outset led to his straight-set victory in the Wimbledon 2024 final, further cementing his place among tennis elites.
