“India’s U-19 World Cup Winning Captain Expresses Surprise Over USA Rejection”

Former India U-19 World Cup winning captain Unmukt Chand has shared his disappointment over not being included in the USA’s squad for the recently-concluded T20 World Cup. Chand retired from Indian cricket in 2021 and moved to the USA in pursuit of better cricketing opportunities. After participating in the inaugural Major League Cricket (MLC) and other franchise tournaments, Chand became eligible to represent the USA. He had expressed his desire to play against India in the T20 World Cup but was ultimately left out of the squad.

Chand expressed his shock and emotional turmoil at not making the squad, describing it as a dream he had nurtured for the past three years.

“That was a big shock for me personally because this was my dream for the last three years. It took me some time to come to terms with it. As a player, after leaving everything behind in India and focusing on this goal, not achieving it was difficult. It wasn’t something that just happened overnight. It was tough. I wasn’t at my best for a while,” Chand revealed to Cricbuzz.

He also opened up about the emotional struggles he faced and the process of overcoming them.

“It was a very internal battle, almost like being sucked into a vortex. The feeling would linger, come back, and hit me in waves. But going through that process helps you grow. Eventually, you reach a point where you accept that it didn’t happen and move forward,” he added.
