Yashasvi Jaiswal Breaks World Record with Stunning 13 Runs Off 1 Ball Against Zimbabwe

Indian Opener Sets Historic Milestone in Thrilling Fifth T20I Match

Yashasvi Jaiswal made history by scoring 13 runs from just one ball during the fifth T20I match against Zimbabwe on Sunday. The record-breaking moment came as Sikandar Raza bowled a high full-toss, which Jaiswal dispatched over deep square-leg for a six. The delivery was called a no-ball, giving Jaiswal a free-hit. He then hit the subsequent ball, a length delivery, straight down the ground for another six. This remarkable feat marked the first time a cricketer scored 12 runs off the first legal delivery of a men’s T20I game.

India, invited to bat first, posted a challenging total of 167 for 6 despite facing some fierce pace bowling from Zimbabwe. Sanju Samson played a crucial innings, scoring 58 off 45 balls, and shared a vital 65-run partnership with Riyan Parag, who added 22 runs. This stand helped India recover from a precarious position of 40/3 in the fifth over.

Zimbabwe’s pacers Blessing Muzarabani (2/19) and Richard Ngarava (1/29) were the standout bowlers, putting India under early pressure by dismissing openers Jaiswal (12), Abhishek Sharma (14), and captain Shubman Gill (13) quickly. However, the partnership between Samson and Parag steadied the innings.

India made two changes to their lineup, bringing in Mukesh Kumar and Riyan Parag for Ruturaj Gaikwad and Khaleel Ahmed. Zimbabwe replaced Tendai Chatara with Brandon Mavuta, giving Chatara a rest after four consecutive games.

With this win, India leads the series 3-1.
