“Gautam Gambhir Stunned as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli Dominate Bowlers in Nets”
As the Indian cricket team gears up for their ODI series against Sri Lanka, the return of stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma has been the focal point. Both players, who stepped away from T20I cricket following India’s triumphant 2024 T20 World Cup campaign, are back in the squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series. Their absence from international cricket for a month has only heightened the anticipation surrounding their performance in the 50-over format.
During a recent training session at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, where the first ODI is set to take place on August 2, Kohli and Sharma once again demonstrated their exceptional skills. Both players were seen putting on a masterclass in the nets, delivering some spectacular shots and handling the bowlers with ease. Their commanding performances were closely observed by India’s new head coach, Gautam Gambhir, who looked visibly impressed by their display.
The training session was not limited to just Kohli and Sharma. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer also participated in the batting practice, while bowlers Kuldeep Yadav and Harshit Rana took the opportunity to test their own batting skills. Iyer even took on the role of a spin bowler during the session, adding to the comprehensive preparation.

The upcoming ODI series will see the R Premadasa Stadium host the first match, with the subsequent ODIs scheduled for August 4 and August 7.
