Harmanpreet Kaur Stunned by Reporter’s Question, Responds with “None of My Business”

Indian women’s cricket captain Harmanpreet Kaur experienced an awkward moment during a joint-captains’ press conference ahead of the Asia Cup 2024. The incident occurred when a reporter asked her about the perceived lack of support for women’s cricket, particularly focusing on media coverage following Team India’s recent tour of Bangladesh.

The question seemed to baffle Harmanpreet, who needed a moment to grasp its context. The reporter’s inquiry centered on the declining media presence at women’s cricket events and whether it was an issue that needed addressing. “There have been concerns about the importance of women’s cricket, especially after the Bangladesh tour. Less journalists appeared at your press conferences. What’s your opinion on this?” the reporter asked.

With a bemused smile, Harmanpreet replied, “Well, that’s none of my business. You guys have to come and cover us.” The response not only left the reporter speechless but also amused Sri Lanka’s women’s team captain Chamari Athapaththu, who couldn’t help but laugh at the exchange.

As the Asia Cup 2024 kicks off, Harmanpreet and her team are set to face Pakistan in their opening match. The India captain expressed her enthusiasm for the tournament and emphasized the importance of each game. “We always enjoy playing against Pakistan, but every team is important. We aim to play good cricket in every match and treat this tournament with the same respect as we do the T20 World Cup or any other World Cup,” she said.

Harmanpreet, who leads India as the defending champions, is determined to build on past successes and guide her team to another strong performance. “Our challenge is to maintain the standards we’ve set in previous Asia Cups, keep playing dominant cricket, and enjoy the game,” she added.

With high expectations and a commitment to excellence, Harmanpreet Kaur and her team are poised to make a significant impact in the Asia Cup 2024.
