Watch: Young Boy’s Bowling Action Goes Viral, Impresses Wasim Akram with “Exactly Like Jasprit Bumrah” Style

Jasprit Bumrah was a key player in India’s triumph at the T20 World Cup 2024, taking 15 wickets and earning the Player of the Tournament award. Bumrah’s consistent performances have cemented his place as one of Indian cricket’s most impactful players in recent years, earning admiration from fans and experts globally. Known for his unique bowling action, Bumrah’s influence is now inspiring the next generation, as evidenced by a young boy whose bowling action has recently gone viral on social media.

The young bowler’s video caught the attention of cricket legend Wasim Akram, who praised the boy for his remarkable resemblance to Bumrah. Akram shared the video on his social media, commenting, “Wah jee wah, look at that control and action, exactly like the great @Jaspritbumrah93. Video of the day for me. #crickethasnoboundaries.”
Bumrah’s impact extends beyond T20Is, as he has proven to be equally effective in ODIs and Tests. Recently, former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja lauded Bumrah, describing him as a “legend of all three formats.”
“In my book, Jasprit Bumrah is a legend in all three formats. There is no one greater who has played all three formats. So you can see, where this boy came from, he lacked confidence, had an awkward bowling action. He was unfit, but he came back, and now he has made India win the World Cup,” Raja said on his YouTube channel.
Coincidentally, Raja’s praise came on the heels of an old video of India’s new head coach, Gautam Gambhir, resurfacing online. In the video, Gambhir emphasized the importance of having versatile players who can perform across all formats.
“I’m a very strong believer in one thing, that if you’re good, you should be playing all three formats. I’ve never been a big believer in injury management, that you get injured, you go get recovered. As simple as it gets. When you’re playing international cricket and you’re good enough, you ask any of the top players, they want to play all three formats. They don’t want to stay and they don’t want to be labelled as red-ball bowler or white-ball bowler,” Gambhir said.
Bumrah’s journey from an unorthodox and initially unconfident bowler to a celebrated international cricket star serves as an inspiration for many aspiring cricketers. The young boy whose video went viral exemplifies how Bumrah’s unique style and success continue to influence and inspire new talent in the cricketing world.
