Jannik Sinner Pulls Out of Paris Olympics Due to Tonsillitis

World No. 1 Tennis Star Forced to Pull Out, Impacting Italy’s Medal Hopes as He Recovers from Illness

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from the Paris Olympics just days before the event begins, citing tonsillitis as the reason for his departure. The Italian tennis star expressed his sadness and disappointment, having developed the illness after a practice week in Monaco.

Sinner, who was set to compete in both the men’s singles and doubles with Lorenzo Musetti, had to make the difficult decision to withdraw following a worsening of his condition despite initially hoping for improvement. His absence means that Musetti will need to find a new partner for the men’s doubles, potentially with either Luciano Darderi or Matteo Arnaldi, while Andrea Vavassori will replace Sinner in the men’s singles.

The withdrawal is a significant blow to Italy’s hopes for a medal, as Sinner has been a key figure in Italian tennis, having achieved numerous milestones this year, including winning his first Grand Slam and becoming the world No. 1. He had previously faced health issues, including a hip injury and dizziness during recent tournaments. Sinner hopes to recover fully and return to competition stronger in the future.
