Kasper Schmeichel Joins Brendan Rodgers at Celtic

Danish Goalkeeper Signs One-Year Contract with Scottish Club

Kasper Schmeichel, known for his pivotal role in Leicester City’s 2016 Premier League victory, has inked a one-year deal with Celtic. The 37-year-old Danish keeper also celebrated an FA Cup win with Leicester in 2021 under the leadership of Brendan Rodgers, now the Celtic manager. Schmeichel’s recent stints include playing for Nice in France and Anderlecht in Belgium.

“Celtic is a club with a deep history, immense passion, and notable success,” Schmeichel said in a statement. “I’m thrilled to work again with Brendan Rodgers, an exceptional manager whom I respect and have previously succeeded with.”

Rodgers spoke highly of Schmeichel’s arrival, emphasizing his experience and winning mindset. “Kasper is a high-caliber goalkeeper whose character will benefit our squad. His love for football fits well with the spirit of Celtic,” Rodgers remarked.

Schmeichel’s signing is anticipated to strengthen Celtic’s defense as they pursue further achievements in both domestic and European competitions.
