Mohammed Shami Reveals Who Is Tougher to Face in Nets: Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli

Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who has been sidelined since the ODI World Cup 2023 due to an ankle injury, recently discussed his experiences facing Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the nets. Known for his exceptional swing bowling, Shami was the highest wicket-taker in the World Cup with 24 wickets in seven matches. He missed the T20 World Cup 2024 but is now back in training.

On a recent podcast, Shami shared some amusing insights about his interactions with the Indian cricket stars. When asked whether Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli is tougher to face in the nets, Shami revealed, “They don’t really enjoy facing me in the nets. It’s a friendly competition with Virat; we challenge each other where he tries different shots and I do my best to dismiss him. This camaraderie motivates us both to perform at our best.”

He added, “I always set up the field and invite Virat to bat, but Rohit generally avoids facing me in the nets. He just declines. I’ve managed to get Virat out a couple of times, and he often gets annoyed.”

Shami also mentioned his close friendships with Ishant Sharma and Kohli. “I have a close-knit group with Ishant Sharma, Virat Kohli, and some former cricketers. We chat on the phone, though not very regularly,” he said.

As a crucial player for the Indian team, fans are eagerly awaiting Shami’s return to the field.
