“Gautam Gambhir’s Fiery “TRP” Retort When Asked About Relationship With Virat Kohli”

Gautam Gambhir addressed the media alongside chief selector Ajit Agarkar ahead of India’s upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, where they will compete in three T20 Internationals and as many ODIs. One of the major topics of discussion was Gambhir’s relationship with Virat Kohli, given their past clashes on the field, particularly during their IPL stints.
“Good for the TRP, but my relationship is not public. What kind of a relationship I share with Virat Kohli… I think it’s between two mature individuals,” Gambhir stated firmly.
He emphasized that while there may have been confrontations in the past, both he and Kohli are committed to representing India and making the nation proud.

“On the field, everyone has got the right to fight for their own jersey and come back to a winning dressing room. But at the moment, we’re representing India, representing 140 crore Indians and I’m sure we’re going to be on the same page and try and make India proud,” Gambhir added.
Regarding their off-field relationship, Gambhir mentioned that they share a good rapport and will continue to maintain it. He stressed that their personal dynamics should not be sensationalized for headlines, especially when their focus is on working hard for India’s success.
“Sometimes, just because we want headlines, it’s not important. Right now, the most important thing is we both are going to be working extremely hard to make India proud. And that’s our job,” Gambhir affirmed.
Both Kohli and Rohit Sharma recently retired from T20 Internationals after India’s victory in the T20 World Cup. Gambhir expressed his expectation that with reduced formats, both players will be available for the majority of India’s ODIs and Tests, contributing to the team’s workload management strategy.
“Workload for someone like Jasprit Bumrah is important. Now that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will play only two formats, I expect them to be available for most games,” Gambhir concluded.
This press conference marks a new chapter for Gambhir and Kohli as they prepare to collaborate in leading Team India forward in the post-T20 era.
