Post Amit Mishra’s “Fame And Power” Dig At Virat Kohli, Punjab Kings Star’s Big Revelation

Virat Kohli, one of the most iconic cricketers of all time, became a hot topic on social media after veteran Indian spinner Amit Mishra shared intriguing insights from the Indian Premier League. Mishra, who represents Lucknow Super Giants, suggested that Kohli has undergone significant changes over the years, attributing this shift to “fame and power.” As Mishra’s comments stirred a major debate online, Punjab Kings star Shashank Singh shared a touching story about his interaction with Kohli, showcasing the true nature of the former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain.

In an interview, Shashank revealed that Kohli spent 40 minutes standing and discussing cricket with him after an IPL match. The extent to which Kohli went to help a young player like him left a lasting impression on Shashank.

“He was standing, I was standing. We were standing for 40 minutes. I didn’t even know when 40 minutes passed,” Shashank Singh told InsideSport. “Our team meeting was at 12:45. It was 12:40, and I didn’t realize when 40 minutes passed. We were talking about cricket, about technique, about shots, about mental chatter.”

Shashank added, “And the way he was answering, it felt like, keep doing it, keep doing it. It felt like he is one of our Chhattisgarh players. He was so friendly, talking to me to help me understand. It felt so good to talk to him.”

Earlier, Mishra had drawn a comparison between Kohli and Rohit Sharma, stating that the latter has remained consistent over the years, whereas Kohli has changed significantly due to the ‘fame and power’ he has gained.

“I have seen Virat change a lot. We had almost stopped talking. When you get fame and power, they think people are reaching out to them for a purpose. I was never one of those. I have known Cheeku since he was 14, when he used to eat samosas and needed pizza every night. But there is a huge difference between the Cheeku I knew and Virat Kohli the captain,” Mishra had said in a podcast.

While Mishra’s comments highlight one perspective, Shashank Singh’s story offers a different view, painting Kohli as approachable and willing to mentor young players, showcasing a more nuanced picture of the cricketing legend.
