Rahul Dravid has reportedly decided to reduce his T20 World Cup bonus by Rs. 2.5 crore, advocating for equal rewards for everyone involved.

Departing Team India head coach reduced his T20 World Cup 2024 bonus by Rs. 2.5 crore and asked the BCCI to reward all coaches equally.
Rahul Dravid, often regarded as the epitome of sportsmanship, has once again demonstrated his exemplary character by choosing to forgo half of his INR 5 crore prize from the Rs. 125 crore pool announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the T20 World Cup-winning Indian team. Following the team’s victory over South Africa in the final, the BCCI declared that Rs. 125 crore would be distributed among the team, coaching staff, and support staff. As head coach, Dravid’s share was INR 5 crore, while other coaches were set to receive Rs. 2.5 crore each.

Rahul Dravid requested the BCCI to reduce his cash reward to Rs. 2.5 crore, matching the amount given to the batting, bowling, and fielding coaches.
“Rahul wanted the same bonus money (Rs. 2.5 crore) as the rest of his support staff (bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, fielding coach T Dilip, and batting coach Vikram Rathore). We respect his sentiments,” a BCCI source said.
Notably, Dravid took a similar stance as head coach of India’s U-19 World Cup team in 2018. Initially, he was set to receive INR 50 lakh, while the rest of the support staff was to get Rs. 20 lakh each, and the players Rs. 30 lakh each. Dravid’s refusal led to a revised distribution, ensuring everyone on the support staff received INR 25 lakh, including himself.
Throughout his career, Dravid has consistently demonstrated selflessness, prioritizing the team’s interests as both a player and a coach.
