“Ravichandran Ashwin Shows Rare Angry Avatar, Makes Aggressive Gesture in Viral Video”

Veteran India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, usually known for his calm demeanor, was seen losing his cool during a Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) match. Ashwin, typically a composed individual, displayed his anger while in his team’s dugout. The incident occurred during the Dindigul Dragons’ clash against Chepauk Super Gillies in the Eliminator match of the 2024 TNPL edition.

Ashwin’s outburst happened in the 17th over of the chase when his teammate Sharath Kumar survived a dismissal scare due to a dropped catch. Ashwin, visibly frustrated with his team’s performance as Dindigul faced a potential collapse, made an aggressive gesture and hurled a mouthful towards someone.

Despite the tense moments, Suboth Bhati and S Dinesh Raj managed to steer the team to victory in a thrilling finish. Ashwin, who scored a crucial 57 off 35 balls, was named Player of the Match.

After the game, Ashwin emphasized the need to discuss the near-collapse situation with his teammates to avoid similar scenarios in the future. “Pressure does these things. We’ll have to have a chat, but the important thing was we closed the game. It was an imperfect game; despite our shoddy bowling and fielding, we kept them down to a low score. As an international and IPL player, the responsibility was with me to do well with the bat. We haven’t played the perfect game, but hopefully, we’ll do well in the coming games. Thankful for the crowd for having turned up,” he said during the post-match presentation.

The Dindigul Dragons are set to face IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans next on Friday.
