Rohit Sharma’s Hilarious Reaction During 1st ODI vs Sri Lanka: “What? You Tell Me”

India captain Rohit Sharma is known for his memorable reactions during matches, and the first ODI between India and Sri Lanka at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo was no exception. During Sri Lanka’s batting, a funny incident occurred that showcased Rohit’s humorous side. Dunith Wellalage defended a yorker delivery from Washington Sundar in the 29th over, leading India to appeal for an LBW, though without much conviction. The umpire was also not persuaded.
Rohit, seeking clarity on whether to review the decision, asked his teammates if it was worth challenging, but received no decisive answers. With a smile, he remarked, “What? You tell me. Mere ko kya dekh raha hai. Sab kya main karu tere liye?” (Why are you looking at me? Should I do everything for you?).

Sri Lanka’s top order struggled against the disciplined Indian bowling attack, but valuable fifties from Pathum Nissanka and Dunith Wellalage propelled them to a fighting total of 230 for eight.
Nissanka, scoring 56 off 75 balls with nine fours, showed great concentration, while Wellalage, with 67 not out off 65 balls including seven fours and two sixes, exuded confidence on a pitch offering some turn. After opting to bat first, Sri Lanka’s captain Charith Asalanka saw his team suffer early setbacks, with Mohammed Siraj dismissing Avishka Fernando. However, Nissanka and Kusal Mendis (14) added 39 runs for the second wicket to stabilize the innings briefly.
Despite their efforts, Sri Lanka’s innings faltered, reminiscent of their performance in the preceding T20I series, as they lost wickets at crucial junctures. The Indian bowlers, led by Shivam Dube’s return to one-day cricket, executed their plans effectively. Dube trapped Mendis leg before, causing Sri Lanka to slump from a comfortable 46 for two to 101 for five in the 27th over.
Sadeera Samarawickrama struggled against the spinners, managing only eight runs off 18 balls before falling to Axar Patel. Asalanka added 31 runs with Nissanka for the fourth wicket but was eventually dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav. Amidst the chaos, Nissanka stood firm, playing some impressive shots, including a lofted boundary off Kuldeep Yadav.
Washington Sundar, despite his consistent off-spin, finally claimed Nissanka’s wicket, trapping him in front. Wellalage and Janith Liyanage (20) then put together a 41-run partnership for the sixth wicket, showing positive intent. However, a questionable decision by Liyanage to not use the DRS led to his dismissal, leaving Sri Lanka at 142 for six.
Wellalage continued to fight, partnering with Wanindu Hasaranga (24 off 35 balls) and adding 36 runs for the seventh wicket. His impressive backfoot punches and innovative ramps highlighted his potential. Along with Akila Dhananjaya, Wellalage added another 46 runs for the eighth wicket, reaching his maiden ODI fifty in 59 balls and helping Sri Lanka surpass the 200-run mark, which seemed distant at one point.
