“This Is the Template We Want”: Suryakumar Yadav After Win vs Sri Lanka in 2nd T20I

India's New T20 Captain Emphasizes Positive and Fearless Approach as Key to Success

After successive victories, India’s new T20 captain, Suryakumar Yadav, has emphasized that a positive and fearless approach will be the team’s template moving forward. Following wins by 43 runs and seven wickets against Sri Lanka, Yadav expressed confidence in this strategy.

“We spoke about this before the start of the tournament – what brand of cricket we want to play. This is the template we want to go ahead with,” said Yadav, who has been outstanding with the bat in both matches.

Due to rain, the target was revised to 78 in 8 overs after Sri Lanka’s batting collapse, finishing at 161 for 9 after being 130 for 2 in 15 overs.

“With the weather around, anything below 160 would have been nice. Rain helped us. The way the boys batted was wonderful,” he added.

Yadav also hinted at possibly giving reserve players a chance in the final inconsequential game. “We’ll sit and decide. Very happy for the boys. Showed a lot of character in tough situations.”

Ravi Bishnoi, India’s googly specialist, noted the pitch’s favorable conditions for spinners. “The pitch was a little different from yesterday. It was turning a bit. I just love bowling the wrong ‘uns. It’s a good responsibility to have (bowling in the death), as it means the captain and the management trust me.”

Sri Lankan skipper Charith Asalanka expressed disappointment over their middle-order collapse and the challenging conditions. “I am really disappointed with the way we batted at the death. We must really improve. Weather also played its part. It’s not easy to bowl eight overs with a wet outfield,” Asalanka said.
