“Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza’s Perfect Response to Fan Requesting Him to Play for Pakistan Wins the Internet”
All-rounder Sikandar Raza is undoubtedly one of the greatest talents ever produced in Zimbabwe. Since his debut in 2013, Raza has played 17 Tests, 142 ODIs, and 91 T20Is, delivering many memorable performances. His contributions extend beyond international cricket, as he has also played in domestic leagues like the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Originally from Sialkot, Pakistan, the 38-year-old was recently asked on social media about his thoughts on playing for his birth country. On X (formerly Twitter), a fan inquired, “Have you ever thought about playing for Pakistan? You could help resolve the middle-order batting woes.”
Raza, however, reaffirmed his commitment to Zimbabwe Cricket, expressing his gratitude and loyalty. “I will only and ever represent Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe spent time and money on me and I am only trying to repay their faith, and whatever I achieve will never even get close to repaying it. Zim is mine and I am theirs fully,” Raza responded.
In another post, a fan asked Raza to name his favorite bowler and batter. Raza mentioned several players, including India’s Jasprit Bumrah, Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi, and former West Indies all-rounder Sunil Narine.
Recently, Raza captained Zimbabwe in a five-match T20I series against India. Despite taking a 1-0 lead, Zimbabwe ultimately lost the series 4-1.
Overall, Raza has scored 1,187 runs and taken 34 wickets in 17 Test matches. In ODIs, he has scored 4,154 runs, while in T20Is, he has registered 2,037 runs in 91 games. Additionally, Raza has played nine IPL matches for Punjab Kings, scoring 182 runs and taking three wickets.
